Quick Navigation
Getting started
Everyone faces challenges — and while you’ve navigated many on your own, therapy isn’t just for crisis moments. It’s for anyone who wants more effective tools, deeper self-awareness, or support while going through a major life transition. Think of it as proactive care, the same way you’d see a doctor before something becomes serious.
People come to therapy for many reasons — career transitions, grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, creative blocks, or simply wanting to grow. If you’re feeling stuck or want more from your life, therapy can help. A good sign it’s right for you: you’re open to reflection and ready to take responsibility for change.
Absolutely. Therapy gives you a trained, objective perspective on the issues holding you back. Your therapist can provide support, teach coping skills, and help you find direction on challenges like stress, anxiety, relationship problems, and personal growth. The benefits are well-documented — but they depend on how actively you engage with the process.
Insurance and fees
We accept insurance. If we’re out-of-network with your provider, we can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement. Visit our Fees & Insurance page for more details.
Sessions and what to expect
Each session is tailored to you — your goals, your history, and what’s happening in your life right now. In general, you can expect to discuss current events, personal history relevant to your issue, and reflect on insights from previous sessions. Therapy can be short-term (focused on a specific issue) or longer-term (deeper personal growth). Most clients find a weekly rhythm works best. Your therapist won’t just listen — they’ll offer insights, suggest practices for between sessions, and challenge you to grow.
There’s no fixed number — it depends on your goals and how actively you engage with the process. Therapy isn’t meant to last forever. Once you’ve set your goals together, you and your therapist will decide when you’re ready to wrap up or reduce sessions. Many clients find meaningful progress within a few months.
Medication addresses symptoms. Therapy addresses root causes — the patterns of thought and behavior that create distress. Research consistently shows the best long-term outcomes come from therapy, often in combination with medication when needed. Rather than just managing symptoms, our approach focuses on lasting, sustainable change.
Privacy and confidentiality
Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of good therapy. What you share stays between you and your therapist — this is protected by your confidential disclosure agreement (“Informed Consent”). Your therapist will never share information with anyone on your healthcare team without your written permission.
The only legal exceptions are situations involving imminent risk of harm, which therapists are required by law to report:
- Suspected or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, or elders
- If a client is in serious danger of harming themselves or another person
